Canadian County Democrats to hear May 8 presentation on national healthcare reforms

Tickets to Diamond Donkey 2012 to be held April 26th can now by purchased on the Payne County Democrats website. Tickets are $50 purchased either online or by mailing in your registration so that your payment is received before the event. Tickets are $65 at the door. If you did not receive an invitation, please be sure and download one if you need to mail it in via snail mail.

CC Dems Accepting Scholarship Applicantions

The Canadian County Democrats are currently accepting applications for up to two $500 scholarships to be awarded in the name of their deceased former county vice chair Robert “Bob” Burton.To be eligible for the Robert “Bob” Burton Democratic Scholarship, students must be registered Democrats eligible to vote in Canadian County and enrolled full-time at any accredited Oklahoma state-funded college, university or career technology center. Students of all ages are eligible.

President defends oil policy during Cushing stop

President Obama shakes hands with Payne County Democrat Linda Sanders on Thursday in Cushing.

“The fact is,” President Barack Obama said Thursday in Cushing, OK, “that my administration has approved dozens of new oil and gas pipelines over the last three years – including one from Canada.

“And as long as I’m president, we’re going to keep on encouraging oil development and infrastructure and we’re going to do it in a way that protects the health and safety of the American people. We don’t have to choose between one or the other. We can do both.”

The White HouseOffice of the Press SecretaryFor Immediate ReleaseMarch 16, 2012 WASHINGTON, DC – On March 21-22, President Obama will travel to Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Ohio to highlight his Administration’s all of the above energy strategy, including his focus on continuing to expand responsible oil and gas development, increasing the fuel economy of the vehicles we drive which will save families money at the pump, supporting renewable energy sources, and investing in infrastructure and research and development, all of which play a central role in increasing our nation’s energy security. On Wednesday, the President will begin the tour in Boulder City, Nevada where he will visit the Copper Mountain Solar 1 Facility, the largest photovoltaic plant operating in the country with nearly one million solar panels powering 17,000 homes. In Boulder City, he will highlight his Administration’s focus on diversifying our energy portfolio, including expanding renewable energy from sources like wind and solar, which thanks in part to investments made by this Administration is set to double in the President’s first term.
